US President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Narendra Modi met in Japan during the Quad meeting, and it is reported that President Biden made an unusual complaint to PM Modi during their meeting.
According to officials, President Biden informed PM Modi that he had been receiving numerous requests from prominent individuals to attend PM Modi’s programs during his upcoming state visit to Washington DC in June 2023. President Biden expressed his frustration, saying, “You are causing me a real problem. Next month, we have a dinner for you in Washington. Everyone in the whole country wants to come. I have run out of tickets. You think I am kidding. Ask my team. I am getting phone calls from people I have never heard of before. Everyone from movie actors to relatives. You are too popular.”
It is worth noting that PM Modi will be visiting the United States on a state visit in June after a gap of nine years. President Biden is scheduled to host PM Modi during this visit, which will include a state dinner on June 22.
During the Quad meeting, President Biden praised PM Modi, acknowledging the significant impact he is making. He said, “You are demonstrating that democracies matter.”
Meanwhile, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese also expressed similar sentiments, stating that he is finding it challenging to accommodate the requests he is receiving from people who want to attend a community event where PM Modi is scheduled to speak on Tuesday, May 23.
