In a rare incident, Moscow experienced a series of drone attacks that targeted several buildings in the Russian capital. The attacks resulted in minor damages and no serious injuries, according to Mayor Sergei Sobyanin’s statement reported by Reuters. Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene to assess the situation and provide assistance.

As a precautionary measure, some residents were evacuated from a building located on Profsoyuznaya Street, as reported by Russia’s RIA state news agency. The exact origins of the launched drones remained unclear at the time.

Andrei Vorobyov, the governor of the Moscow region, confirmed that several drones were intercepted and shot down as they approached Moscow. The nature and purpose of these drones were yet to be determined.

Telegram messaging channels in Russia, cited by Reuters, claimed that between four to ten drones were targeted and neutralized on the outskirts and surrounding areas of Moscow.

Russia’s defense ministry swiftly responded, accusing Ukraine of orchestrating the “terrorist attack.” According to their statement, the ministry claimed to have successfully intercepted all eight Ukrainian drones that were allegedly deployed for the attack on Moscow.

In their official announcement, the defense ministry declared, “This morning, the Kyiv regime carried out a terrorist attack with drones on targets in the city of Moscow. Eight drones were used in the attack, and all of the enemy drones were downed.”

The incident sparked tensions between Russia and Ukraine, with Moscow holding Ukraine responsible for the drone attacks. The situation remained volatile, and investigations were underway to determine the exact circumstances and individuals involved in the incident.
