Hyderabad, India – In a tragic incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, a 27-year-old woman from Hyderabad, Kontham Tejaswini, was brutally stabbed to death in London’s Wembley area. Tejaswini, who had traveled to London for higher studies, was allegedly attacked by her Brazilian flatmate at their residential property on Tuesday morning.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that Tejaswini lost her life at the scene, while another woman, aged 28, sustained stab injuries but was reported to be in a stable condition after receiving medical treatment at a local hospital. The horrifying incident unfolded at Neeld Crescent in Wembley.
Vijay, a cousin of Tejaswini residing in Hyderabad, revealed that the accused was a Brazilian man who had recently moved into the shared accommodation where Tejaswini and her friends resided. Tejaswini had left for London in March last year to pursue her Masters degree.
Authorities swiftly responded to the incident, leading to the arrest of two individuals at the scene on suspicion of murder. A 24-year-old man remains in custody, while a 23-year-old woman was released without further action. In a recent development, a 23-year-old man, identified as Brazilian national Keven Antonio Lourenco De Morais, has also been apprehended. The Metropolitan Police had earlier released his image and sought public assistance in locating him.
The police statement affirmed, “He was arrested on suspicion of murder and taken into custody at a north London police station.” However, the PTI report highlighted that the suspect can only be named if charged.
Detective Chief Inspector Linda Bradley from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command expressed gratitude to the public for their support in sharing information about the suspect. She assured the community that a dedicated team of detectives is diligently working to unravel the details surrounding the tragic incident. “I recognise the significant concern this incident has caused in the community, and I would like to reassure the public that a dedicated team of detectives are working to establish what happened,” she stated.
