In a shocking turn of events, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the Chief of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and BJP MP, has been charged with sexual harassment and stalking. The chargesheet, filed by the Delhi Police, follows allegations made by top wrestlers that have sparked massive protests within the wrestling community. However, the police, in a report submitted to a Delhi court, stated that no “corroborative evidence” was found against the BJP leader in a case filed by a minor, leading them to seek the cancelation of the case.
The chargesheet was filed after wrestlers, who had been protesting against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh since April, met Union Minister Anurag Thakur. The minister assured them of taking appropriate action against the accused by June 15.
Sensational Allegations on Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh
The Delhi Police announced, “In the FIR registered by the wrestlers, after completion of the investigation, we are filing a chargesheet for the offences under sections 354, 354A, and 354D of the IPC against accused Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.” They further added, “In the POCSO matter, after completion of the investigation, we have submitted a police report requesting a cancellation of the case based upon statements of the complainant — the father of the victim and the victim herself.”
Sources revealed that the minor wrestler initially leveled sexual harassment allegations against the WFI chief during her first statement to the police. However, when she appeared for her second statement, she changed her stance. According to the sources, she stated, “I was not selected. I worked very hard. I was in depression. So, in anger, I filed a case of sexual harassment.”
The court has scheduled further consideration of the matter for July 4.
