Gufi Paintal Aka Sakuni Mama Last Rites Held with Tears, Arjun and Dronacharya got Emotional

Actor Gufi Paintal’s last rites were conducted on Monday evening following his demise earlier in the day at the age of 79. The final rites took place at a crematorium in Andheri and were performed by his brother, actor Kanwarjit Paintal, and his son Harry Paintal. Heartbreaking images from the ceremony captured the grief-stricken state of the family.

Gufi Paintal laid to rest

Gufi Paintal’s last rites were solemnized in the presence of close friends and family members. Several individuals from the film industry were observed attending the crematorium to pay their respects to the departed actor. Kanwarjit was visibly emotional as he carried the mortal remains of his late brother, while Hiten Paintal was also seen overwhelmed with emotions.

Reports suggest that Gufi received a state salute as a mark of respect. He had been admitted to a hospital in Mumbai recently due to kidney and heart-related ailments, and his condition had been critical. On Monday morning, the family confirmed the news of his passing.

Gufi Paintal’s demise

“Unfortunately, he is no more. He passed away at the hospital around 9 am. His heart stopped beating. He peacefully left us in his sleep,” revealed his nephew Hiten Paintal to the news agency PTI.

Who was Gufi Paintal?

Gufi had a notable presence in various television shows and films. His appearances include projects such as Bahadur Shah Zafar, Mahabharat, Kanoon, Om Namah Shivay, CID, Ssshhhh Koi Hai Dwarkadheesh Bhagwaan Shree Krishn, RadhaKrishn, and Jay Kaniya lal Ki, among others. He made his acting debut in the 1975 film Rafoo Chakkar and went on to star in movies like Dillagi, Desh Pardesh, and Suhaag.

However, he is best remembered for his portrayal of the character Shakuni Mama in BR Chopra’s Mahabharat. Gufi is survived by his son, daughter-in-law, and a grandchild.

Actor Nitesh Bhardwaj, who played the role of Krishna in Mahabharat, expressed his grief, saying, “I lost a very humble friend and colleague. He was a loving, appreciative, simple man who was a part of my life journey. May his soul attain eternal peace (sadgati).” Many others took to social media to remember Gufi and share their fond memories of him.
