Amidst a heated political row surrounding the inauguration of the new Parliament building, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has made a plea to the Opposition parties to set aside their differences and attend the “historic” event. This appeal comes as a boost for the ruling BJP, with 25 political outfits, including seven non-NDA parties, expected to participate in the inauguration.

However, in a move that highlights the continuing divide, around 20 Opposition parties, including the Congress, have decided to boycott the inauguration ceremony led by Prime Minister Modi.

Despite the opposition boycott, the presence of key non-NDA parties at the inauguration provides a significant relief for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) led by Mayawati, Shiromani Akali Dal, Janata Dal (Secular), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), YSR Congress, Biju Janata Dal (BJD), and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) have indicated their willingness to attend the event. These seven parties collectively account for 50 Members of Parliament in the Lok Sabha.

Moreover, several other political parties have also expressed their intention to attend the inauguration, further adding to the significance of the event. The National People’s Party, Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party, Sikkim Krantikari Morcha, Jannayak Janata Party, AIADMK, IMKMK, AJSU, RPI, Mizo National Front, Tamil Maanila Congress, ITFT (Tripura), Bodo People’s Party, Pattali Makkal Kacchi, MGP, Apna Dal, and AGP are among the parties expected to be present.

Ravi Shankar Prasad, a senior BJP leader, has appealed to the Opposition parties to demonstrate unity and attend this “historic day” by showing a “big heart.” He emphasized the importance of respecting not only the President but also the Prime Minister, who holds a constitutional responsibility and is an integral part of Parliament.

While political disagreements and differing ideologies are natural in a democratic setup, moments like the inauguration of a new Parliament building provide an opportunity for all parties to come together and prioritize the welfare of the nation. It is a chance to put aside political differences momentarily and celebrate the democratic process that binds the diverse fabric of Indian society.

The new Parliament building stands as a symbol of progress and development, reflecting the aspirations of a nation that constantly evolves. As the inauguration day approaches, the country watches with anticipation to witness the participation of political leaders from across the spectrum. Their collective presence can demonstrate unity, mutual respect, and the spirit of democracy that transcends political boundaries.

The hope remains that the political row surrounding the event will subside, and the occasion will be remembered for the unity and camaraderie displayed by political leaders from all parties. The new Parliament building holds the promise of being a space where meaningful debates, constructive discussions, and crucial decisions shape the destiny of the nation.

In the true spirit of democracy, let us hope that the inauguration becomes a moment of unity, setting an example for future collaborations and reminding us all that despite our differences, the ultimate goal should be the progress and well-being of the people and the nation.
