Odisha 12th topper Karma Muduli, who scored an impressive 82.66% in her Class 12 Odisha board exams and emerged as the topper in Malkangiri district from the commerce stream, was forced to work as a laborer and daily wage earner in her own hometown due to financial constraints.
Hailing from the Bonda tribe in Malkangiri, Karma Muduli’s outstanding performance caught the attention of high-ranking officials, including the collector and the governor, who commended her remarkable accomplishment. The district administration even felicitated her for her achievements.
However, Karma’s dream of pursuing higher education seemed out of reach due to the severe financial crisis she and her family faced. Her story, which highlighted the struggles faced by a talented student, made headlines in TV and newspapers, leading to an outpouring of support from various organizations and the Odisha government.
In an encouraging initiative, Malkangiri Collector Vishal Singh provided Rs 30,000 to Karma Muduli from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Additionally, the Khairput Block Communications Officer and District Welfare Officer also made generous donations towards Karma’s education.
Following discussions with Karma and her family, the Malkangiri district administration assured them that they would bear all the expenses related to Karma’s education. Furthermore, Karma was freed from her laborer position with a contract organization, and she was sent back to her village of Padeguda.
The administration’s support also includes providing Karma with a laptop to aid her studies. This comprehensive assistance aims to alleviate the financial burden on Karma and ensure that she can focus on her education without worrying about her living expenses.
Karma Muduli’s inspiring journey is a testament to her determination and passion for learning. Despite facing numerous hardships, she excelled academically and proved her potential. The collective efforts of the government and organizations to support her education will undoubtedly open doors for Karma, enabling her to pursue her dreams and contribute to society.
Karma’s story also sheds light on the challenges faced by students from marginalized communities who lack financial resources. It serves as a reminder of the importance of providing equal opportunities to all students, regardless of their backgrounds, and the need for continued efforts to address educational inequalities.
With the support she has received, Karma Muduli can now focus on her studies at Ramadevi University in Bhubaneswar without the burden of financial constraints. Her journey serves as an inspiration not only to others facing similar challenges but also to society as a whole, highlighting the transformative power of education and the impact that a helping hand can have on someone’s life.
