The Surat-based diamond manufacturing company, Green Lab Diamond, has gained international recognition for producing lab-grown diamonds that possess identical chemical and optical properties to those mined from the Earth. In line with India’s commitment to eco-friendly practices, the diamond was created using eco-diversified resources such as solar and wind power.
The owner of the diamond manufacturing unit, Mukesh Patel, is known to be an associate of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as evident from several photographs of them together on social media platforms. Patel, a businessman from Surat, expressed immense pride on behalf of Surat and the entire country for the recognition of their lab-grown diamond by PM Modi’s gift to Jill Biden.
The green diamond presented by PM Modi to First Lady Jill Biden serves as a testament to India’s “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” (Self-Reliant India) initiative. The gemstone was meticulously cut and polished in Surat, a city renowned for its expertise in the diamond industry. As a result of Surat’s excellence in lab-grown diamond production, these man-made gems from the region are now being exported worldwide.
Apart from its visual allure, the 7.5-carat lab-grown green diamond reflects the chemical and optical properties of naturally mined diamonds. Notably, the diamond is also environmentally friendly, emitting only 0.028 grams of carbon per carat. Certified by the International Gemological Institute (IGI), the diamond bears the hallmarks of excellence in its cut, color, carat, and clarity.
