Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fans have a reason to rejoice as their beloved captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, is all set to lead the team once again in the upcoming 2024 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The announcement was made by CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan during a recent interview.
Viswanathan shared details about Dhoni’s plans and his road to recovery after undergoing knee surgery following the IPL 2023 final. “Dhoni told us immediately after the final was over that he will fly to Mumbai, have surgery, and go back to Ranchi for rehab,” revealed Viswanathan. He further mentioned that Dhoni is currently resting and is expected to start his rehabilitation after three weeks.
Highlighting Dhoni’s commitment and self-sufficiency, Viswanathan stated, “He knows what to do, how to go about it. So we aren’t going to ask him ‘what are you going to do, how’ etc. He will inform us on his own. Whatever he’s doing, he’ll call first and inform only Mr. N Srinivasan, not anyone else. Factually, he’ll be straightforward with him. From him, we’ll get the information that this is what he’s doing. It’s been this way since 2008. That is how it will continue.”

Despite turning 42 next month, Dhoni’s age will not hinder his leadership and participation in IPL 2024. After securing the title for CSK, Dhoni expressed his desire to lead the team for another season as a token of gratitude to the loyal fans who have showered him with love and support throughout his career.
Following the surgery, Dhoni has been recovering at his residence in Ranchi and is expected to refrain from participating in any cricketing activities for the next three to four months. His focus is on regaining fitness and making a strong comeback for the next IPL season.
