Gorakhpur: On the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid his respects to Guru Gorakshanath and the gurus of the Nath Panth at the Gorakhnath Temple. The rituals commenced at 5 am with the Guru Purnima worship and concluded with a grand ‘maha aarti’ ceremony.
Amidst the reverberating chants of Vedic hymns, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who also holds the revered position of Gorakshpeethadhishwar, offered heartfelt prayers to Lord Gorakhnath, the Adiguru of the Nath Panth, as well as to the other deities within the temple premises.
Following the tradition of the Nath Panth at the Gorakhnath Temple, Yogi Kamalnath, the head priest of the temple, presented Mahaprasad (sacred food offering) to Guru Gorakhnath. Subsequently, the traditional ‘Maha Aarti’ was conducted, accompanied by the participation of all the Nath yogis who sought blessings from Gorakshpeethadhishwar, as is customary.

During his visit, Chief Minister Adityanath took the opportunity to extend his greetings to the people on the joyous occasion of Guru Purnima. In addition to the main rituals, he also made a visit to the cowshed located on the temple premises. Displaying his deep reverence for cows, Adityanath offered jaggery to these sacred animals.
The Guru Purnima celebrations at the Gorakhnath Temple hold immense significance for followers of the Nath Panth and devotees of Guru Gorakshanath.
